Poker Rules

Poker rules are not very different in terms of ranking; however, there are going to be some slight variations with respect to the type of game that you are playing. Poker rules are subject to vary between community card games and stud games in the way the cards are dealt.

Poker rules define how the cards should be dealt in each games:-
In Texas holdem, there is supposed to be 2 pocket cards face down.
In Omaha holdem there is supposed to be 4 pocket cards face down.
In seven card stud the pocket cards are dealt with 2 pocket cards being dealt face down and the third card being face up.
The board cards in Texas and Omaha are common to each player.
In stud games each draw is individually dealt to each player and there is no common card except under circumstances when there is less number of cards in the deck.
Poker rules define when a card should be dealt face up and when it has to be dealt face down.

Poker rules define betting in each games:-
Ante is compulsory in games, where each player is supposed to make a chip fee that is predetermined. The ante should be made even before the card is dealt.
Forced bets and blind bets are also obligatory. The player first clockwise to the dealer pays the small blind always; and the player second clockwise to the dealer makes the big bet.
The blind bets rotate to the next players with every table.
The small bet is half the size of the big bet.
The big bet is twice the small bet and it is normally the minimum bet in any round.
All increments in call raise and re-raise is made in terms of big bet in most games.

Poker rules also define the ranking of Ace per games structure:-
In some games Ace is ranked both high and low
In some games straights and flushes count against winning.
In some games straights and flushes do not count against winning.

Poker rules vary for each game. You need to learn to make out the best starting hand for each game and develop related strategies abiding by poker rules and also it is important to understand that the strategy that we apply for one game will not be successful in another game. It should differ.
